LED Coving UK — Decorative LED Light Profiles for Every Room
LED coving is one of the most popular ways to add indirect lighting to a room. Rather than visible bulbs or fittings, the light sits hidden inside a decorative coving or cornice profile — casting a soft glow up towards the ceiling or down the wall.
At Coving.Online, we stock over 56 LED coving and cornice profiles from Orac Decor — the leading manufacturer of high-quality polyurethane architectural mouldings. Whether you want a subtle wash of light for a bedroom or a bold feature in a living room, there’s a profile to suit.
What Is LED Coving?
LED coving is a decorative moulding profile designed with a built-in channel or recess for an LED strip light. It sits at the junction of your ceiling and wall — just like traditional coving — but with the added benefit of concealed, atmospheric lighting.
The LED strip isn’t visible. Instead, the light is reflected off the ceiling or wall to create an even, ambient glow. The effect can be subtle or dramatic depending on the colour temperature and brightness of the LED strip you choose.
Why Choose LED Coving?
- Creates a premium, hotel-style finish in any room
- Conceals the LED strip completely — no visible wires or fittings
- Works with smart lighting systems including Philips Hue and similar
- Lightweight polyurethane profiles — easy to cut and install
- Fully paintable — match any décor
- Available in modern and traditional styles to suit period or contemporary interiors

Types of LED Coving Profile
Our Orac Decor LED profiles fall into two main categories:
Up-lighter profiles
The LED strip faces upward, reflecting light off the ceiling. This creates a soft, diffused glow that makes ceilings feel higher and rooms feel calmer. Ideal for bedrooms, living rooms, and dining areas.
Down-lighter profiles
The LED strip faces downward, washing light along the wall. Great for hallways, kitchens, and anywhere you want a more directional accent light.
Some profiles are designed for both — offering flexibility to install strips facing up, down, or both simultaneously.
Which Rooms Work Best with LED Coving?
LED coving works in virtually any room, but the effect is particularly striking in:
- Living rooms — frame the ceiling and create a relaxing ambient atmosphere
- Bedrooms — soft indirect light reduces eye strain and aids sleep
- Dining rooms — set the mood for evening entertaining
- Home cinemas — bias lighting that reduces eye strain during viewing
- Hallways — add depth and interest to narrow spaces
- Kitchens — clean, modern indirect lighting above wall units
Installing LED Coving
Orac Decor LED profiles are made from lightweight high-density polyurethane. They’re easy to cut with a mitre saw or hand saw and fix with the Orac Decor FDP700 adhesive — no nails or screws required on most surfaces.
Once the coving is in place, simply run your LED strip into the channel. Most profiles accept standard 10mm single-colour or RGB LED strips.

Frequently Asked Questions
What LED strip do I need for LED coving?
Most Orac Decor LED profiles are designed for standard 10mm LED strip lights. We recommend a minimum of 600 LEDs per metre for a smooth, even light output. Warm white (2700K–3000K) works well in living spaces; cool white (4000K+) suits kitchens and workspaces. RGB and tunable white strips are fully compatible too.
Can I paint LED coving?
Yes. All Orac Decor profiles are fully paintable with standard emulsion or eggshell paint. They come in a factory white finish — simply paint to match your ceiling or walls once installed.
Is LED coving difficult to install?
Not at all. The profiles are lightweight and bond with adhesive. Most DIY-confident homeowners can install them in a day. We provide full installation guides, and our team is on hand to answer questions — call us on 01959 528 541.
How long do the profiles come in?
Orac Decor LED profiles are supplied in 2 metre lengths. Corners are mitred at 45 degrees — just like standard coving. For complex shapes or curved rooms, flexible LED profiles are also available in our range.
Do you offer professional LED coving installation?
Yes. Coving.Online offers professional installation across the UK through our network of trained installers. Contact us to discuss your project and get a quote.
What’s the difference between LED coving and standard coving?
Standard coving is purely decorative — it covers the joint between the ceiling and wall. LED coving does the same job but includes a channel or recess designed to hold an LED strip light, adding functional indirect lighting as well as decoration.
